2010 Practical Labs

Ginny Kidwell and Travis Grosser

Goals: The main goal of the labs is to help you with getting more familiar with social network analysis and the Ucinet software, as well as help with your research project, data collection, data analysis from a practical point of view, early on in the semester. With each session you will gain practice with the software using various dataset, as well as the opportunity to ask specific questions about course material.

LAB 1 – INTRO TO UCINET & NETDRAW

LAB 2 – DATA ENTRY AND MANAGEMENT

LAB 3 – TESTING HYPOTHESIS

  • Review type of testable SN hypotheses

  • Steps Needed from Data to Ucinet Procedures

  • How to choose, create control variable for dyadic analysis

  • Q&A term project, your hypotheses and how to test those.
